FAK (Freight All Kinds)

A per-unit rate published monthly by shipping lines and applied to spot traffic. It makes no distinction based on the nature of non-hazardous dry cargo, nor on its commercial value. Since the end of the maritime conference system in Europe in 2008, FAK rates have become the norm for non-contractual traffic.
