NAC (Named Account Contract)
Pricing and the Market
A bilateral contract between a shipowner and a specific shipper (a “named account”) that sets forth rates and terms of carriage negotiated on a case-by-case basis, outside of published rates or standard annual contracts.
In practice, quarterly contracts are the most common term for NACs because they offer a good balance between visibility for the shipper and flexibility for the shipowner to adjust rates.
